Excellent and simple interface, you just should add a "remove stress" option

Response from the site administrator
alvinru, 10.11.2016
In what situations would removing stress be useful?

Wrong transcription:

Example 1: produced [ˈprɒdjuːst]. It should be [prəˈdjuːst]. Example 2: to produce [tə ˈprɒdjuːs]. It should be [tə prəˈdjuːs]. To correct this, phonetizer needs to see grammar. Not easy at all.
Response from the site administrator
alvinru, 03.10.2012
Yes, it's a shame but I'm not even considering making Phonetizer understand grammar. It's way too difficult for a little side-project like this.

Thanks for your report anyway!

I would like to learn how to read whole passages written in phonetic script. Could you please add an option where original punctuation (carriage returns, commas etc.) is maintained?

Thanks for your suggestion, Ben!

I'd need a list of English words in dictionary form along with their Australian pronunciations written in IPA.

I can provide you with a such a list that includes British pronunciations. You could help me by having someone look through it and find all the places where British and Australian pronunciations differ and add the necessary corrections.

Do you need an short unstressed i: /i/

Does the Phonetizer need a short unstressed version of /i:/? Many dictionary keys do not have a way to clearly represesnt schwi /i/ unstressed. They either use ee or i .. as you seem to do here with i: and i city = cIti rather than citi.

Hi, I;m just curious... What accent do you use as your point of reference? What I mean is: Is English = received Pronunciation, and American = General American accent?

Response from the site administrator
alvinru, 05.05.2013
For British English it is RP, for American English I use the CMU Pronouncing Dictionary database. http://www.speech.cs.cmu.edu/cgi-bin/cmudict I'm not sure what variant of English it is, but I think it must be General American.

It is easier to implement your suggestion in the Windows and Mac versions of Phonetizer than in the online version. I think I'll start by adding it to those versions and then I'll be thinking how to add it to the online one.
